Health and Safety Audits
A Health and Safety Audit is an evaluation to determine whether your health and safety processes and procedures are effective and working as planned. The audit is usually carried out by an independent consultant to ensure impartiality.
The HSE defines it as:
“A collection of independent information on the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the total health and safety management system and drawing up plans for corrective action.”
Unlike a Health and Safety Inspection it doesn’t just focus on the hazards present in the workplace, instead it is a more in-depth evaluation of your organisation’s health and safety management. It reviews the effectiveness of any controls your organisation has in place to manage workplace hazards, determines how well you are following processes and assess your overall health and safety performance.
Health and Safety Audits and Inspections play an important role in maintaining the wellbeing of your workforce and whilst there is no legal requirement to complete Health and Safety Audits, Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASWA) highlights that it's the employer's duty to (so far as is reasonably practicable) ensure the health, safety and welfare of all employees

Our consultants would use the question set to provide consistent and accurate information on individual locations. You can then use this information as a management tool to measure effectiveness and compare performance across specific sites.
